La Tarasque

Wine label for Old Vine Grenache from the Côtes du Rhône, by well-respected winemaker Aaron Pott. La Tarasque was a dragon-like beast that terrorized the good people of southern France in the 12th century. It was believed that a saint soothed the beast and led him back to the village, where the villagers killed him. Label is a mix of medieval (the beast) and modernist (the type and layout). I modified and vectorized an old illustration and combined with modernist type for the label and poster.
